Package: upgrade-reports
Severity: important

I have a system with custom built kernel (installed from source by hoster)
Early it was a Debian Etch, updated to Debian Lenny with holding packages:
grub
linux-image-2.6-686
module-init-tools

Now I want to do the same update from Lenny to Squeeze, holding old kernel,
but aptitude full-upgrade proposes installation of packages of new kernel:
linux-base
linux-image-2.6.32-5-686

Aptitude holds:
# aptitude search ~ahold
ih grub - GRand Unified Bootloader (dummy package)
ih linux-image-2.6-686 - Linux 2.6 for modern PCs (dummy package)
ih linux-image-2.6.17-2-686 - Linux 2.6.17 image on PPro/Celeron/PII/PIII/P4
ih module-init-tools - tools for managing Linux kernel modules

I don't know why aptitude proposed upgrading this package when it was held.
However, the minimum kernel version supported by the eglibc in squeeze is
2.6.28, so if aptitude *hadn't* for some reason bypassed the hold, the
upgrade would have failed anyway.

So I don't think there's any actionable bug here with regards to the
upgrade. You could file a bug against aptitude itself, but it's also
unlikely that there will be any fixes forthcoming to the version of aptitude
in oldstable.
