Boot the CD with knoppix 2 typed in at the boot: prompt then hit the enter key now use once booted: mount /dev/hda2 /mnt/hda2 chroot /mnt/hda2/ /sbin/lilo -v And that should install it if the lilo.conf is setup to install into the MBR otherwise you would need to edit the file before running the chroot command.
