no libwrap in lprng or sendmail?

Hi,

I found - much to my surprise - that the woody lprng package isn't
compiled with libwrap. I know that lprng has the lpd.perms file but I
would prefer to just use one permissions file (aka hosts.allow) for all
daemon subnet and ip restrictions to make life simple. Has this been done
before? There is also no libwrap compiled into sendmail or exim, though I
don't know if anyone has modified the code to make this possible. If so,
why is libwrap not compiled into these daemons as a standard?

Thanks,
Cere
