aic7xxx driver hangs

Hi!

I'm unable to install slink with boot disks from
debian/dists/slink/main/disks-i386/2.1.8-1999-02-22/


....
......

and then machine hangs.


Some month ago I installed hamm on the same machine wwithout problems.
