No, It was just to point the fact that only removing /dev/tty*
would lead to your problem. I'm sorry if you've been confused
by my words.

If you re-create /dev/tty* (using /sbin/MAKEDEV script), then all
the messages from init complaining about his respawning progs will
disappear.
The  answer was given in another place by somebody else :
as root :
  ~# /sbin/MAKEDEV generic

(Except if you're using devfs, but i think you don't).


And if re-create of /dev/tty* did not solve your problem, then
try to reload init :
as root :
  ~# telinit q
