Actually, it seems the SCSI controllers & Debian act very weirdly - whatOpenBoot thinks is device 1 when there are six drives installed, Debiandoes not think is sda, but rather something like sde. Very odd, but Ifnially figured out which slot is which drive and SILO works now.
