The two designers I worked with claimed that the GXs would do anything from
1x1 (or was it 0x0?) up to the maximum resolution, in 1 pixel increments.
Not that there's much point in running at (for example) 1101x373...

The issue is of course that software isn't prepared to handle arbitrary
resolutions, and the monitors certainly aren't.  Sun shipped a lot of fixed
frequency 1152x900 monitors, and the prom will use it's limited monitor-sense
ability to try to keep you from damaging the display.
