Hello dear release team

rrdtool bumped its soname for 4 to 8 in version 1.6. The library is now
thead safe, so that librrd_th.so is gone. Regular librrd.so should be
used whether thread safety is required or not.
Inside this library, the symbol removal does not affect any of Debian
architectures. Only non-posix ones are impacted.

rrdtool version 1.6 is now in experimental. The "auto-rrdtool
transition" [1] lists the 10 packages that will need to be bin-nmu'd:

title = "rrdtool";
is_affected = .depends ~ "librrd4" | .depends ~ "librrd8";
is_good = .depends ~ "librrd8";
is_bad = .depends ~ "librrd4";

Library packages are co-installable.

All 8 packages that built from source still do with version 1.6. I don't
expect any trouble.
The only bug I could find is about collectd, currently FTBFS, that will
display a bogus message during compilation, and will performed
its own mutex locking at runtime. See #823012 and #822397.

Please tell me when it's ok to upload to unstable.
