Dear Maintainer,

I run kate (either command line or nautilus->open_with)

I open a file

I use file->open dialog to try and open a second file, in a different
directory.

The whole window system, including the window manager, disapear and I am
dropped back to a new window login prompt.

This is a total crash, rendering kate unusable, since all other system data is
lost (as well as any pending edits in kate)
