Hello. In the version of Kate that ships with Stretch, 16.08.3, there is a very annoying bug where every time you click Open, it goes to your home directory instead of the most recently opened path like it used to in Jessie. I asked in #kde on freenode and they said this has already been fixed in a later version. (They didn't know which, but 17.12.2 works correctly.)
