Go to /usr/share/kde4/apps/ksplash/Themes/Default/1280x1024/ and look at the
image size of background.png - it's 1278x1024.

When used as a splash it causes two lines of garbage to be shown on the right
size of the screen.

This isn't a problem anymore in 4.7; not sure which specific KDE version fixed
