Bug#567717: kdm: antialiasing does not work

The fonts in KDM on my machine are not antialiased, although that feature
is enabled in my kdmrc. Here are some relevant lines:

Things I have tried:
- purging kdm and reinstalling did not work
- dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig did not work
- removing my kdmrc and replacing it with one from a system with antialiased fonts in KDM did not work
- changing the theme did not work
- running the graphical "login window" tool did not work
