Bug#403885: kmail crashes
I'm writing from a different partition from the same computer. But all the
data I've sent refers to the same thing: a partition with kernel
2.6.8.1-kanotix-10 and the latest ("testing") kdepim Debian package. Kmail
1.9.5. Should this kanotix kernel be a problem?
The problem of kmail crashing when trying to save a message with 3 or more
big attachments to the drafts folder always happens. With the latest
available version of the kmail (kdepim) Debian package - 4:3.5.5.dfsg.1-2.
That is Kmail 1.9.5. And with older versions. Before that, I was using the
4:3.5.5-1 Debian package. And getting the same crashes. An older version of
Kmail, 1.7.2, crashes the same way.
If one of the 3 attached files is smaller than 10 MB, then it's possible to
save the message to the drafts folder. However, in kmail's main window, if
one looks at the message in the drafts folder, then one realizes that the
reported size of each attachment ( seen in the lower right corner) is about
35 % bigger than the real size. This is probably another bug.
When launching kmail 1.9.5 from the command line, I initially get the
following:

Then, when trying to save a message with 3 or more big attachments to the
drafts folder, after the crash, one can read:

When launching the older 1.7.2 version of kmail from the command line, I
initially get the following, even before beggining to compose a new e-mail
message:
kspell (kdelibs): ERROR: charsets iso-8859-4 .. iso-8859-15 not supported yet
Anyway, back to Kmail 1.9.5 : when it crashes after trying the saving, a popup
window informs about the signal 6 - SIGABRT .
