Subject: qa.debian.org: KDE crashes when running things on console
Package: qa.debian.org
Severity: important

KDE reproduceably crashes the session, when running cdparanioa. It also crashed for example while installing reportbug and cofiguring this. After the crash a graphical login is shown, and the user can start a new session. But no data from the previous session can be recovered. It is, as if the previous session wasn't run at all. The data loss also covers started downloads and written/added text documents. Kindest regards, Chibi

Hi,

About your bug report "KDE crashes..."

Please note:
-> The "qa.debian.org" package is the wrong place to report bugs such as
your issue. The "qa.debian.org" package is about issues concerning the
Debian QA Team; see http://qa.debian.org/ for what they do. You should
usually report bugs against a specific software package that causes the
problem, or against the "general" packge if you absolutely can't figure out
what causes the problem.

-> For us (Debian developers) to be able to reproduce your problem, a lot
more information about your computer is needed. Installed versions of the
most important software components you have installed, for instance. Also:
any form of error messages you get.

-> If your session crashes: the ".xsession-errors" file in your home
directory often contains useful information.

I'm using KDE a lot and do not have this issue (and have not had such
general "it crashes" problems for a long time), so I suggest you try to
update your system first, and then try to locate the problem. Perhaps also
use an IRC (Chat) program (kopete, xchat, ...) to connect to the #debian
channel on irc.debian.org and ask for help on how to find the problem.

Closing this bug for lack of information.

Regards
Adrian von Bidder
