Yes, from this Launchpad bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/debian/+source/apt-rdepends/+bug/315567, numeric arguments works. I should have RTFM, --follow and --show need to be used together to see the correct result. For example:

apt-rdepends -f 4 -s 4 gedit -d | dot -T png | display

Wish someone can write a patch for the perl code. Thanks guys.
