I did a debian/etch install on JS21 blades yesterday. There are some glitches,
but right now you should try :

  1) get http://people.debian.org/~luther/debian-installer-64bit-2
  2) put it on your tftp server or wherever and boot it.
  3) the install should go glitchless until yaboot-installer.
  4) after the yaboot-installer failure, go to the menu, and into a shell.
  5) chroot into /target
  6) edit yaboot.conf, erase the device= line, the magicboot= line.
  7) add append="console=hvc0 root=/dev/sda2" to the image entries.
  8) save yaboot.conf and run ybin.
  9) exit the chroot, exit the shell, don't install yaboot but continue
  without bootloader (two menu items lower).
  10) reboot, and enjoy ...
