novideo is (or even was? can't find it in current yaboot documentation)
a yaboot configuration option, not a kernel option.

Should be video=ofonly. Anyway, you really want radeonfb...

Why? Better build it into the kernel.  You may also want to make sure
that CONFIG_I2C_ALGOBIT and consequently CONFIG_FB_RADEON_I2C are
enabled.

You mean the DRM? You only have to worry about that once you have X
basically working.
