/vol then ? I never really used Solaris so I never though of that.
Hmm perhaps it's best to keep that reserved for when someone writes
a real vold (of which I only know what it is by hearsay)

But the idea about only creating /cdrom /floppy etc on initial
install and not re-creating them every time you upgrade 'base' is
a good idea as well. At least people who don't like them will be able to
remove those directories.
