RFC: Emacs add-on packages and make.
Hi,
I had a look at the way other emacs add-on package maintainers do
things WRT the new emacs-policy, and saw some packages use make in
their `/usr/lib/emacsen-common/packages/{install,remove}' scripts.
While this make it easier to build and maintain add-on packages, it
also means add-on packages using make should `Depends: make', which is
currently not always true.
I filed bug reports against calc, psgml and vm about this.
Now I wonder what's the Right Thing to do: should we let emacs add-on
packages depend on `make' (which, after all, is `Priority: standard'),
or should we try and not to use make at all in those scripts?
Waiting for comments,
