Building spellcheck packages

Hello,

I am packaging a spellchecker for Latvian here (lv_LV) and I ran into
some questions:

1. What is the de facto standart spellchecker package now? What package
source should I look into? What name shall I choose?
(openoffice.org-spellcheck-lv or myspell-lv)

2. To enable a spellchecker by default, one must change
/usr/lib/openoffice/share/config/registry/instance/org/openoffice/Offic
e/Linguistic.xml
and add lines like
<cfg:any cfg:type="string" cfg:derivedBy="list" state="replaced"
cfg:name="lv-LV">org.openoffice.lingu.MySpellSpellChecker</cfg:any>
to it. Can we please make a script to do that in a proper way?!
(update-ooo-spellcheck --install-dict lv LV lv_LV)
If someone makes this script, it would also be nice to be able to run it
as root to update all user files in
/home/<user>/.openoffice/1.0.2/user/config/registry/instance/org/openof
fice/Office/Linguistic.xml
that (seemingly) ovverride the system version.

3. Are there tools for authomatically sonverting MySpell files to iSpell
files and to wordlists?
