This bug should only occur on with 64, not 32-bit kernels.  Can you
confirm that you also saw this with Aurelien's 32-bit kernel, and if
so, does the 2.6 Cobalt kernel from Debian unstable not work either?

Looking at the kernel messages Michael posted, it looks like the Mac address is ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff for all 2.6 kernels. So the bug is probably not in the 64-bit kernels.

BTW, nobody reports a regression compared to current unstable kernel, would it be possible to update the configuration file with the one I posted in 2.6.17-rc3 (experimental version)? This way, if there is an ABI change (not sure), it is not necessary to increase the ABI number.
