The kernel images in the archive should have PS/2 mouse support
included. If not file a bugreport.

There's a default config in with the upstream X sources which is
missing from the debian package. I've filed a bugreport already.
I recently saw a link to this file at http://www.linuxmips.net/ in 
the new section but this seems to be currently down.
