I'm looking for a sponsor to start the NM process.

Package: fai-bootcd
Licence: GPL
Description: FAI BootCD - bootable CD for non-interactive Debian installs
Scripts to create an FAI BootCD - a bootable iso9660 image for use
with FAI - to perform non-interactive, automated installations of
Debian GNU/Linux meta-distributions without network connectivity.

FAI (http://www.informatik.uni-koeln.de/fai/) performs non-interactive
installations of Debian. FAI BootCD (http://holbytla.org/fai/) puts
all of this onto a bootable CD so installation can be done without network
connectivity. FAI classes describe a completely customised installation
of Debian - disk partitioning and filesystems, required packages, and post
installation scripts to further customise the install (e.g. apply patches,
copy over custom configuration files, cfengine scripts etc.).

When a host has been properly defined into an FAI class, fai-bootcd can
perform the installation non-interactively and replicate the host with 100%
accuracy within minutes. Small installs take about 3-4 mins, larger ones
are dependent on disk size and if filesystems are recreated, mine are
about 8-10 mins from power on to login prompt on a completely installed
and configured system.

The next step is to perform an FAI installation into a chroot, bypass disk
partitioning etc. and use this as the basis for building bootable, live CD
filesystems out of any FAI class definition. i.e. completely customised
Knoppix style bootable CDs. After that, integration with d-i to make
non-interactive installs a standard feature of official Debian CDs.

apt source:

    deb http://holbytla.org/fai/debian sarge main

A woody pool is also available, but I'm putting v0.3.3 in the sarge pool
up for review. Anyone interested?
