IMHO it doesn't make much sense to create a subdirectory for a single
file. Besides, when developing sometimes you _do_ want to link to this
shared library. (I've done it with libefence.so, for example when the
steps to call the program in question the "normal" way killed LD_PRELOAD.)

Anyway, this special case -- libraries which get preloaded via
ld.so.preload or LD_PRELOAD -- isn't covered by Policy IMHO.

My personal preference is to add a Lintian override, and leave it at that.
