Thanks! I also already noticed it a few days ago, too, but so far
assumed that this was mostly caused by the test suite (which runs
lintian only check by check), not by running lintian in its normal
mode with all checks.

So it's already on my mental TODO list to figure out why these files
are not cleaned up properly.

The fact that this also happens in Lintian's normal operation and not
just when running via test suite makes this issue more severe than I
thought and I'll raise my priority for it (and also the severity in
the BTS).

So thanks again for this bug report and and reminder! 

(And yes, my /tmp/ was filled with ten thousands of these files. I
noticed it after investigating why a GUI file open dialog in /tmp/
froze for many seconds until I could interact with it.)
