På debian-devel finder du også nedenstående om emnet fra Michael Bramer.

Hello

I will try to summarize the >100 mails with the subject
        'debconf template translation'
on debian-devel and extract a TODO list for the DDTP.

The DDTP translate a lot of debconf descriptions and this translation
should be useable for the debian users. The best way is the
integration in the normal debian package.

Some package maintainers ask for a notifications from the DDTP about
debconf translations. Maybe as normal bug reports in the debian BTS.
Today the DDTP make some notifications via the PTS. But with this
solution the maintainer must subscribe to the PTS for his own
packages. This is not the best solution.

Bug reports should not send per script, some human operator should
controll the bug reporting. The DDTP translate the templates one by
one, not the whole template file from one package at one time.

We need a way to submit changed/new English text and new translations
from the package maintainer to the DDTP. Maybe some kind of CVS system
for the text will help.

Also some package maintainers ask of a maintainer sorted list of all
debconf translations.

TODO
----

 - make a list sort by source package maintainer email address
 - some nice (and fast) download-links (po files)
 - the po from the DDTP should only contain translated strings.
 - build debconf-i10n-LANG deb packages with all 'unused' translations
(translations, that are not in the debian package)
 - Fill bug reports after some time via a 'human operator' if the
   maintainer don't catch the translations
 - document this all, make guides and howtos for the package
   maintainers
 - the ddts must support 'uploads befor package release'

Future tasks
------------
 - in future we will translate man pages
    - groff have some problems with encoding and this must first
      fixed.

This summary is short, I hope I don't miss any importent point.

Comments?
