Comments/Problems:

Both of the above mentioned disks successfully boot and the installer
progresses until it presents an error requesting that "rtl8168d-1.fw" and
"rtl8168d-2.fw" be provided via removable media. Neither files exist in
firmware-nonfree_0.27.tar.gz (squeeze / testing) and the files in
firmware-nonfree_0.28.tar.gz (sid / unstable) pacify the installer, but do
not result in a functional network card, causing the installer to throw
errors when DHPC configuration is attempted.

Both the network card and the cabling are known good. I have been booting
live CDs for various other distros for the past week and successfully
surfing the web.

Hi,
your bug has been filed against the "linux-2.6" source package and was filed for
a kernel older than the recently released Debian 7.x / Wheezy with a severity
less than important.

We don't have the ressources to reproduce the complete backlog of all older kernel
bugs, so we're closing this bug for now. If you can reproduce the bug with Debian Wheezy
or a more recent kernel from testing or unstable, please reopen the bug by sending
a mail to control@bugs.debian.org with the following three commands included in the
mail:

reopen BUGNUMBER
reassign BUGNUMBER src:linux
thanks

Cheers,
        Moritz
