So do I understand correctly, that blacklisting the xhci driver does
_not_ avoid trouble? Can you confirm that the blacklisting worked,
by booting and checking that the xhci_hcd module is not loaded?
If so, this presumably has nothing to do with the xhci driver, and is
probably caused by something lower level.
