Package: linux-image-2.6.21-2-686 Version: 2.6.21-5 Severity: wishlist User notes every time he removes a kernel, he sees messages about broken links being fixed, which now point to the latest kernel in /boot. I wish that that message would mention what to dpkg-reconfigure to change such behaviours. User notes that every time he installs a new kernel, those links aren't updated... only when removing kernels. User wonders how to adjust things, notices $ dlocate /etc/kernel-img.conf $ doesn't belong to any package or note where it is documented or who to complain to about problems in it. It even looks funny, (do not/do:) $ cat /etc/kernel-img.conf # Do not create symbolic links in / do_symlinks = Yes do_initrd = Yes (I use my lilo.conf.conf, http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=429038 )

The kernel-img.conf file is documented in kernel-package. This should have been noted in e.g. README.Debian for image packages. However, it is no longer required and will not be created in fresh installations, so I do not see the point in doing that now.
