Bug#488626: linux-image-2.6-amd64-etchnhalf: Degraded NFSv3 client performance using the 2.4.24etchnhalf
Package: linux-image-2.6-amd64-etchnhalf
Version: 2.6.24+13~etchnhalf.1
Severity: normal
We experience a significant drop in NFSv3 client performance using the 2.4.24etchnhalf kernel
This is observed on both i386 and x86_64 kernels
Doing a cp -a from an nfs mount volume the new kernel had multiple times more nfs lookups and rpc calls
Also all hosts running 2.4.24etchnhalf kernel have extreme load (on multiple nfsv3 reads) comparing to 2.6.18-6-amd64 kernel
I have to mention that we use Netapp filers as nfsv3 server.
I have google this issue and i have found that there is the same behavior to others distros. (centos, rhel)
Seems that vanilla kernel has unresolved this nfs issue.
