Bug#407757: xen kernel makes dom0 slower, further information
The situation on a dual Athlon 64 X2 4200+ system running with etch
amd64 is the same as on the xeon machine running with etch amd64:
Vanilla kernel:
real 0m42.152s
user 0m39.838s
sys 0m2.308s
Xen kernel, dom0:
real 0m53.857s
user 0m43.271s
sys 0m10.561s
As before, the sys time is relatively high.
So, the problem depends not on the cpu (athlon64 or xeon with 64 bit),
but on the xen kernel or the xen hypervisor for the amd64 bit platform.
The only way around which I see at the moment is to install xen from
scratch - but the debian package are very convenient...
Greetings,
Heiko
