Package: linux-image-2.6.14-2-686
Version: 2.6.14-6

Hello,

Since I upgraded from linux-image-2.6.12 to linux-image-2.6.14 my ali5451 soundcard is no more able of playing any sound... I've tried all the successives revisions of 2.6.14 but it really seems it's since the change 2.6.12/2.6.14 that the module is no longer loading properly.

Here the corresponding part of my dmesg :

AC'97 1 does not respond - RESET

ali mixer 1 creating error.

If I unload and reload manually the drivers

modprobe -r snd-ali5451 snd-ac97-codec snd-ac97-bus snd-pcm-oss snd-mixer-oss snd-pcm snd-timer snd-page-alloc modprobe -a snd-page-alloc snd-timer snd-pcm snd-mixer-oss snd-pcm-oss snd-ac97-bus snd-ac97-codec snd-ali5451

then I've got the same message in my syslog.

alsaconf command seems to work fine. It does the unload/reload (which doesn't work) but say then all's OK. Then I set up alsamixer. When I play a sound, e.g. "play ~/sound/sample.wav" system seems to play it, no error is displayed, the "play" command stays in use for all the sound duration, but no sound could be heard (mixer's OK, speakers also).

Many thanks in advance if you could see what went wrong since the 2.6.14 arrival.

Have a good day and a happy new year !

Regards,

Laurent.
