Bug#326602: linux-image-2.6.12-1-powerpc: [powerpc] ramdomly switches off

Hey.

I'm going to apologize upfront for taking a bit of a
tangent from the initial direction of this report. I
have seen similar symptoms, but there's no sign of
similar issues in the linux-source-2.6.12 bug reports.
Maybe my experiences could be of some help?

sure:

$ cat /proc/cpuinfo
processor : 0
cpu : 750FX
temperature : 1-76 C (uncalibrated)
clock : 400MHz
revision : 2.2 (pvr 7000 0202)
bogomips : 792.57
machine : PowerBook4,3
motherboard : PowerBook4,3 MacRISC2 MacRISC Power
Macintosh
detected as : 257 (iBook 2 rev. 2)
pmac flags : 0000001b
L2 cache : 512K unified
memory : 384MB
pmac-generation : NewWorld

As the above indicates; my 800MHz iBook is using the
cpufreq kernel modules. What I've noticed is that, on
three occasions since building a tweak of this kernel,
the iBook is apparently *off* after having been put to
sleep. I can send my .config offlist, if desired.
It's based on debian-patched 2.6.12 source, with the
rfmon orinoco patches applied. Perhaps my tweaked
kernel could be of some help in tracking this problem
down, anyway? My tweaks are mostly *removal* of dross
I don't need...

Oh; and I said "apparently off" earlier. There seems
to be some reluctance to switch back on from this
state. It's almost like it's awake in some vaguely
"undead" sort of way - w/ apologies to G.Romero ;)
The power key seems to need to be held for some time
and released, then re-depressed to get a power-up.
I've seen this button behaviour under serious crashes
but then the machine is still mostly on. I'll try to
provide more info on symptoms if I can. It's only
happened to me when I've been too rushed to notice
whether the heartbeat LED is flashing prior to
opening the lid, so now I'm keeping a closer eye.

whee!
