I did a build of the nvidia modules (1.0.7174-3) with the
kernel-headers-2.6.11-1-k7 (2.6.11-7) package and did not see this
problem.

I followed the instructions
in /usr/share/doc/nvidia-kernel-2.6.11-1-k7/README.Debian, which
included setting the KVERS environment variable.
