It is not that simple.

with dev=/dev/hdd cdda2wav fails to read and detect Cd-Text:

CD-Extra: not detected
[...]
ametzler@downhill:/tmp/cdda2$ cdda2wav -J dev=/dev/hdd

CD-Text: not detected
[...]

Additionally dev=/dev/hdd takes ages for the index scan.
This is kernel-image-2.6.8-2-k7 2.6.8-12/cdda2wav 2.01+01a01-2 BTW.

PS: I am not testing dev=ATAPI, as this is known to be broken, but
dev=ATA and dev=/dev/hdX are supposed to be essentially the same
thing.
