Bug#261875: ACPI shutdown fails on Asus A7S333 motherboard (SIS 745 Chipset)

Package: kernel-source-2.6.6
Version: 2.6.6-2

When I try to power off my PC using the 2.6.6 kernel (but this applies to all the 2.6 kernels) the message "acpi_poweroff called" is displayed but it doesn't shutdown. On some occasions the monitor will go blank but the monitor wont have powered down although not always as somethimes the kernel messages are left being displayed. It sounds like the hard disks spin down but the fans carry on. This problem has only started since upgrading to the Sarge install as I used to use the 2.4 kernel that came with Woody and that worked fine so when I installed sarge and got this problem so I tried to build a kernel (2.6.6 as it was the newest) with the patch mentioned below but that hasn't fixed the problem.

The motherboard is the Asus A7S333 (SIS 745 Chipset)

I have found the kernel bugzilla (1141) report which has closed but the fix doesn't seem to have been used in the main kernel and the patch suggested doesn't seem to work for the 2.6.6 kernel as it still affects my machine the link below shows the Kernel bug tracker report.
