Bug#259367: kernel-image-2.6.7-powerpc: irda problems
Package: kernel-image-2.6.7-powerpc
Version: 2.6.7-3
Severity: normal
Apple Powerpook G3 400 MHz "Lombard"
Has an internal IR device.
With 2.4.25-8 it needed the macserial module to work.
Cannot get it to work and it behaves strangely.
(Probably my fault, but I need a hint.)
During bootup it detects the port:
pmac_zilog: 0.6 (Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>)
ttyS0 at MMIO 0x80813020 (irq = 15) is a Z85c30 ESCC - Internal modem
ttyS1 at MMIO 0x80813000 (irq = 16) is a Z85c30 ESCC - Infrared port
Also /proc/sys/net/irda/ exists and has useful values.
irattach does not like /dev/ttyS1, though.
It is strange. that:
Each time /dev/ttyS1 is accessed the following line is send to syslog:
pmac_zilog 0.00013000:ch-b: IrDA setup for 9600 bps, dongle version: 4
You get a couple of line when trying to start irattach
and then a tty: set_disc(11): Bad file descriptor
and in /var/log/messages:
irattach: Stopping device /dev/ttyS1
irattach: ioctl(SIOCGIFFLAGS): No such device
pmac_zilog 0.00013000:ch-b: IrDA setup for 9600 bps, dongle version: 4
irattach: exiting ...
So something is wrong, but I do not know what.
