I need a better description than 'starting having malfunctions,
struggled for a time and then eventually quit'. What were the error
messages you saw?
Reason being that I would like to see if it's the same bug as I'm seeing
on my Sparcstation 10 which also uses the esp driver.
In the meantime, 2.4.27 kernels are known good. Sorry.
