Hi ! If you use only two keyboard layouts, you can use Caps lock to switch from one to another. This is done by using the option: grp:caps_toggle. Then the led of the keyboard will indicate you which one is activated. That is what I use with french and russian phonetic layout, and it works very well, at least for me.
