I figured it out.  Instead of grabbing from trunk, grab the matching release.

BTW, using the Debian svn alowed me to build kdepims (kmail, kaddressbook, etc)

There are no tarballs in the debian svn so do I just grab a copy from kde trunk and add the debian directory and run fakeroot dpkg-buildpackage?
