ksysv crashes

Please CC me if you have a solution to my problem ...

I am running Debian Sarge with KDE 3.3 on a IBM T30 (type 2366-92G) and kernel
2.6.6. My problem is with ksysv. Invoking ksysv from the K-menu as root gives
the usual KDE Crash Handler window:

The application SysV-Init Editor (ksysv) crashed and caused the signal 11
(SIGSEGV).

Backtrace tab shows the following output:

Invoking ksysv from the console of user diemo renders the following output:

defiant:/home/diemo# ksysv
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

kded: cannot connect to X server :0
DCOP aborting call from 'anonymous-31862' to 'kded'
kded: ERROR: Communication problem with kded, it probably crashed.
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

kdeinit: Can't connect to the X Server.
kdeinit: Might not terminate at end of session.
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

ERROR: KUniqueApplication: Registering failed!
ERROR: Communication problem with ksysv, it probably crashed.
defiant:/home/diemo# Mutex destroy failure: Device or resource busy

A maintainer of the ksysv package said the culprit are the lines

QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

But, unfortunately, the recommendation of using 'sux' instead of 'su' didn't
work out.

Any ideas how to solve the problem?

Timo
