Which programs exactly? I think I'm only using kopete from kdenetwork, and it 
always worked well.

Don't delete your .kde, just move it, and try if this solves anything. If it 
does, you can just delete / move / edit the part of the config you are 
unhappy with.

If you read the Debian changelog for kdepim 
(e.g. /usr/share/doc/kmail/changelog.Debian.gz), you will see some problems 
that KDE packagers are experiencing, and that seem to be upstream problems.
