Credo di aver risolto il problema, stavo cercando in /etc/ppp/options la stringa lcp-echo-interval (che tra l'altro era già impostata al valore 30) e poco sotto ho notato la stringa "lcp-echo-faliure 4"; leggo la descrizione che vi posto:

> # LCP echo-requests are sent without receiving a valid LCP echo-reply.
> # If this happens, pppd will terminate the connection.  Use of this
> # option requires a non-zero value for the lcp-echo-interval parameter.

Così ho disattivato l'opzione, forse ho sbagliato, ma solo il tempo potrà sciogliere questo dubbio!!!
