Bug-reports have a completely different time-scale than user
interface texts in the programs (much faster). Can we
handle that enormous extra translation load?
I do not know, how much it is. But, maybe, I should clarify a bit more
what was meant:
- - reportbug (does "bugs" or "bug" still exist?)
- - Web pages about reporting and searching bugs
- - Documentation about bugs and bug reporting.
Other things could be (if possible): the user gets a localized system
message. Quoting will not help in an english bug report. But if this
info is left out, the maintainer would not be able to understand, what
really had happend sometimes. So if there was a database to search for
english translation of that message, it would help. - And no, that is
not silly, because the user may not know how to get the english version
of that message. But if there was a database, the maintainer may find
it, if the localized version is in the bug report.
And please do not think "impossible". If people would have thought that
about i18n in 1996 we would not have so many languages in Debian now.
Maybe I should think of all that for the debian dicts, too. Hmm... But
I still did not find a way to include them into the debian web pages
(or as package in release?). Finding translators seems not to be as
hard.
