Well, there is a tradeoff. If you use a passive translator, it will be
broken under Linux, right? Indeed, a symlink approach might be very helpful
here. You could link /home [under linux] to /trick17/home, which is a
translator for hd0s7 on the Hurd filesystem (hda1), and a mount point for
hd0s7 on linux. To avoid all of this, you can just set an active translator:
root@yosida /# settrans -ac /linux/home /hurd/ext2fs /dev/hd0s7
(note the -a option). This should not write anything to /linux. You need to
repeat the command at every boot, though.

Yes. "shadowconfig on", as on linux. It is not the default in Debian, but I
think it might be an option in the installation routine. It will be an
option in ours, too, when we have one :)
