For those who will settle for unofficial packcages, I have compiled
perl5.6_5.6.1-5 and uploaded the packages to:
<URL:http://www.tihlde.org/~oysteivi/hurd/>

Packages pass the perl -e 'print "hello world\n"' test, but have not
been tested further, as I do not know any perl.  Debconf 0.9.71 would
happily install with these packages on the system.

(Warning: Anybody considering using these packages should note that I am
not (yet) a debian developer, and therefore by definition shifty and not
to be trusted.  The choice is yours.)
