I am talking about the POSIX draft as currently developed by
the Austin Common Standards Revision Group (www.opengroup.org/austin)

It's not a standard yet, but it seems it will replace the various
UNIX standards (1003.1/96,  1003.2/92 and SUS).

It seems this was grandfathered in draft 5, and fixed in draft 6.
