You can ap-get install vim ;). Well you need to do ./MAKEDEV hdX where X is the ide
number starting at 0 for the first ide, etc. so use the one for your CD-ROM
(assuming you're not using SCSI). Then set up the translator:
settrans -c /cdrom /hurd/isofs /dev/hdX
