I tend to be conservative in which kernels I run. I don't foresee myself trying
any 2.6 kernels until they reach 2.6.8 or something and have gotten in sync with
all non-x86 architectures.

Anyhow, so far, there's always one thing or another that's broken on Linux PPC,
in regards to sound. My iMac's sound card systematically manages to jam with
ALSA and already is somewhat buggy using the old dmasound_pmac OSS module.

Ben has already done a fantastic job on improving Power Mac support but, as my
recent post to the PPC port list shows, ALSA support and corresponding Gnome
Mixer controls are a mess.

IIRC 2.3.2 up to ds1-8 worked well, at least on i386 but, right now, ds1-10 is
causing chaos on both hppa, i386 and powerpc.
