This seems more reasonable, but still offer a way to disable the message
(unless that's what LD_ASSUME_KERNEL is for)
something like LD_SUPPRESS_ERRNO_WARNING=1
Then we could set that in the inetd's environment and it'd get inherited
by the rsh-invoked backup tools.
